AAH. CORRUPTION ON IT’S FINEST DAYS.

last may 20, mama and i accompanied papa to naia for his scheduled flight that day. while we were on the way, a soul-crippled mmda man approached us and asked what we were looking for. i didn’t replied. his looks are the typical fat bellied man with a large black shades. add the annoying voice and look i saw and heard.

we were really looking for a taxi.

this fat bellied man called for one. — an airport taxi.

the place isn’t really a loading area. but heck, an mmda man called for one? he is supposed to call that a traffic violation. this seems odd.

we went in to the taxi. the mmda man won’t let the taxi go. he was asking for a “LAGAY”, as we, filipinos, call it. a small amount of 20 pesos in exchange of letting the taxi go out of his CORRUPT HANDS.

i was completely angry upon seeing that.

but for the driver, maybe it was just an another cross road to a corrupt mmda. maybe he experiences that many times a day!

gimme a break.

this epidemic is worser than h1n1 virus. their fate seems to go parallel. as h1n1 virus still doesn’t have a sure cure, same with this corruption virus that infects people and kills their conscience.

it’s not just about the mmda thing. it’s about everyone.

it’s not just the mmda’s. it’s also the workers, teachers, government officials, and also students who choose to be infected with the deadly virus.

i admit, i was a part of the corruption. i cheated answers, occasionally. it is only in college where i joined forces with the righteous fighting for honest education. well, mere cheating is already a corruption. it can kill the conscience of a person — with the consequence that can be inculcated to one’s being.

see this, the whole picture can be completed. a person doing his corrupt feat, with the others being familiar to that corruption. then others will ignore it — given the fact that a person do that every now and then. CORRUPTION CULTIVATED.

it is NOT JUST about them. IT IS about us.

it is between choosing to go with the corrupt, or go against them.

what will you choose?

just another wordpress w… WHAT THE HECK?!?!

hell yeah. i almost forgot i have a wordpress blog — for real. i even forgot the reason why i created one. and the punch is, i didn’t bother to edit its settings because, hello? what’s the point of having multiple blogs with the same content? for nothing? it’s maybe for publicity purposes, at least, for me. oh, and it is until today that my brain neurons from my past revitalized and injected to my present thought (insertion point, huh?) this fact.. hey yo michael! a wordpress blog!! you have one too, right!!? open it man!

ehem… to my main point

so well, for formality’s sake, i created another domain on WP, http://jmgerona.wordpress.com. but why? well, as y’all see, it consists of my initials and surname. it is REALLY for formality’s sake.

mouse press after mouse press, i came across an option of defining the primary language in the posts. since i’m a pinoy (hey why am i using english now? haha) i chose TL-TAGALOG. then, press again and again.. wow! voila! just another noob weblog!!!

the site brought me to my blog dashboard page. and WOAH. what the heck is this?? (click to view the picture clearer)

oh men. what’s HAPAG all about? KAWING is what? is BORADOR the lost brother of bordado? SUSKRISYON? ESTAD? are these the deeper words of the pinoy language?

i asked myself, do i know alot about our own language? mm, i really didn’t understand what those words mean, until i consulted my other WP blog with the language set to english. (oh, is that so? hmm)

many of us (including me, of course) are accustomed to the english language. maybe some of us are into the point of hating a thing (a website, in my case) if that would appear in our native language. honestly, upon seeing the page, the words ‘what the heck’ immediately scrambled in my mind. oh please wordpress, ain’t you got better filipino translation of your site?

oh shrek, is my reaction caused by my familiarity of the english language? or is it because of the ridiculous tagalog translation they banged in to the site? ooooooh..

hey, we have this proverb, right?? ang ‘di magmahal sa sariling wika ay mas masahol pa sa malansang isda. whoever said this, I AM SORRY. (i don’t idolize Arroyo, okay??)

this is a mraz song originally, but for a while, i’ll be singing happy-happy.

my goodness. i never thought i’d come to this point. to all the frustrated HP customers, count me in.

why would nvidia be so secretive with the g84/g86 graphics chips defective issue if they’ve got sufficient data to smack to the face of angry consumers (like me) proving that this freaking issue is purely a MYTH? why would the company spend a jaw-dropping 200 million USD just to cover up this? nvidia has something to hide. better start talking. X-(

if not because of that *** issue, people wouldn’t be dealing with the narrow-minded, bird-brained HP customer service. as far as i know, HP’s got a horrible customer service. it’ll take you hours arguing with the case manager for your laptop’s repair. it’ll also cost you fat telephone bill.

well then, i can say that i’m a prophet — prophet of a ticking time bomb that brings happiness, but in the end, blasting your pants (or shorts) off.

as the coca-cola song says: “open coca-cola, let’s go open happiness..” same goes with.. “open hp laptop, let’s go open a time bomb…” pretty nice isn’t it? but well..

normally, a fine working mobile graphics card aka GPU (ATI or NVIDIA) doesn’t exceed 50 degrees while idling, under 60 degrees on medium load, and over 60 but not exceeding 70 degrees under full stress. that’s the normal.. if we’ll compare this to humans. this is the normal body temperature of a GPU. as humans have a normal temp of 37 degrees Celsius.

i monitor the graphics card temperature every time i use my pc. and seeing the temps go over 70 degrees Celsius under medium load is a no-good news to me. and even at idle, temps would go as much as 68 degrees Celsius. and under heavy load, a shooting 90 degrees Celsius! what the heck?! 10 degrees shy from the water’s boiling point! TH!! i could fry an egg with this thing! X-(

though the pc is still running fine (still not showing signs of defect or sickness) i don’t want this pc to burn on me. worse, neither i don’t want the GPU to blow off. (it may cause trauma to me, i tell you)

sticking to the desktop is maybe my fate. what’s my choice? continue using my pc until it becomes a 14 inch, 1.5 kilogram paperweight? or pass my whole college life with that pc still running? i’ll play safe. i’ll just let the dust collect to its bag.

helluva nvidia issue. maybe ATI is in good time now. the next time i buy my very own pc, i’ll go with ATI.

in fact, our desktop is ATI-based. safe.

summer season is nearing its end. in few months the days of extreme humidity and hot temperature the summer brings will be gone. maybe that’s a reasonable�reason to take sips of coffee again.

what else can i get? is it ironic that hot foods/drinks are our refreshments during rainy/cold season and cold foods/drinks during summer? maybe that’s a facet of life — a homeostasis between things. a balance that is vital for everyone to live.

while everyone longs for a balance between every aspect of their life, it’s sometimes inevitable to have some sort of disturbance in their inner self. then things get worse, thinking between what’s to prioritize can screw you up. well for some it’s no big deal but for others, it’s a screaming yes.

realizations come while sipping a cup of coffee over the black keyboard.

kahapon (may 27,2 2009) nagtungo ako sa school para ipa-validate ang grade ko sa course window. kailangan kasi para sa application shrek na kajokeran. haha. dumating ako sa school ng tanghali na, expecting na ang lahat ng mga tao na naka-assign mag-validate ay nandun na lahat.

to my surprise, wala. sabi sakin ng tao sa course window, “balik ka bukas, wala pa kasi yung nagv-validate e”. kumusta naman yun diba. kung di lang ako patient (naks), umalis na ako at bumalik sa bahay, pero TH, sayang pamasahe.

kaya hinitay ko hanggang hapon. tapos bmalik ako sa course window, tapos kinuha na yung grade ko saka yung checklist shrek. kaso sabi ba naman, bukas mo pa to makukuha. shrek. so, hoping na baka makuha ko rin that same day kasi ayaw ko na bumalik sa school kinabukasan, hinintay ko ulit. tapos bumalik ako ulit sa course window, kaso no luck, “bukas mo pa rin to makukuha. balik ka na lang bukas.”

kanina (may 28, 2009) bumalik ako ulit, pagdating ko school, nakuha ko naman agad. maganda bungad sakin ng resulta. “GWA 1.49 – 100% FTF” yehey. ok, apply na ako.

ngayon at naka enrol na ako ngayong sem sa school, pambihira rin ang schedule ko, pero ok lang. ayos rin naman ang block ko kasi, lahat ng best among the rest ng I.T. sa school ay pinagsama sama sa iisang block. ayos, challenge ito sa akin. at nararamdaman ko na magkakaroon ng competition dito, in terms of kung sino ang pinakamagaling. besides the fact that i landed fourth place among the top students sa batch namin (papaburger ako. hehe joke), siguro keri naman. may pero ano ba? syempre sisikapin kong maging ganon ako, para astig! hehe

defective gpu.. battery recall.. i hate it.

i just recently learned the cover ups of nvidia [manafacturer of nvdia geforce video cards]. AND I HATE IT. REALLY.

FYI, nagproduce ng mga graphics chips/cards ang nvidia na depektibo pala. ano ang ginawa ng quality control ng kumpanya saka pati product testing nila?? buset.

2nd quarter ng 2008 nareveal na lahat ng g84 at g86 chips ng nvidia ay defective.. maski desktop man o laptop. no exeptions, lahat depektibo.. at wala ring replacement parts na maayos since lahat nga ay defective. lahat. ang depekto raw ay dulot ng faulty die material packaging joker.. basta yun.. na nagccause ng overheating.. at ang resulta — natutunaw ang solder connection ng gpu sa motherboard. (natatanggal bale)

g84 at g86 chips are contained in graphics processor models 8400gs at 8600gt.

ang pc ko ay may 8400gs na graphics processor. X-( basically, kung desktop pc ka at may 8400gs o 8600gt card ka, your option is to replace that card with another card.. maybe cards from ATI. pero kung laptop pc ka at ganto ang graphics processor mo, no luck. di napapalitan. you’re stuck with that defective chip (stuck na ko X-( )

yung laptop ko 8400gs ang gpu. nung nalaman ko ang kalokohan ng nvidia, badtrip. isipin nyo, gumagamit ka ng bagay na alam mong anytime pwedeng bigla na lang magloko sooner than expected, ano mararamdaman nyo? parang may taning yung pc no? kakaiba.

at eto pa isa, nag battery recall ang hp sa mga hp laptops nito lang may 14, 2009. tiningnan ko sa list ng mga nirerecall na battery ng mga model na gawa nila.. kabilang yung model na nasakin. (hp pavilion dv2700 to.)

buti nalang, ayos naman ang battery. (ni-verify ko na na hindi naman defective ang battery)

pero etong defective gpu talaga.. haay. joker.. shreeek

goodness virus X-(

i noticed this abnormal activity on this nice system siguro mga 3 weeks ago. everytime i boot, the hdd indicator flashes abnormally. parang may weird harddisk activity na nangyayari. wala naman akong inii-scan. peculiar rin kasi tapos na magload ang mga startup programs e nagfflash pa rin yung hdd indicator.

kagabi, pinalitan ko ng antivirus to nang eset smart security 4. at BOOM. andaming infected files. at ang virus na nadetect sa lahat ng infected files ay�virut.nbp. i did some research sa net. at nalaman ko na ang isang symptom na infected ka ng ganito ay ang weird hdd activity. nainfect na ng virus na to ang ibang system at program files. bad trip.

if i can’t fix this problem, uuwi ako sa format. my gulay. wala pa akong alam sa hp recovery procedures. X-(
